Why Mushrooms?

I grew up in the desert, where mushrooms were something you only saw in grocery stores—or on TV. But that all changed when my job went remote and my wife and I moved into a van to travel full-time. We've hiked across more than half the national parks, and along the way, I discovered something I never expected to love so much: mushrooms.

From the tiniest clusters to massive caps peeking out of mossy logs, every hike revealed new shapes, colors, and textures—each one more magical than the last. In Boston, I saw my first red-and-white mushroom, just like the ones in Mario Kart. I was hooked.

Now I’m an unapologetic mushroom nerd with more than 100 species cataloged on my phone, all found while hiking hundreds of miles across the country. This shirt? It’s a celebration of that curiosity, that joy, and the awe that comes with finding beauty in the unexpected.
