Why Mushrooms?

I grew up in the desert. Mushrooms were something you saw in a grocery store, or on TV.

Then my job went remote, my wife and I moved into a van, and we started traveling full time. We’ve hiked through more than half the national parks. Somewhere in there I got obsessed with mushrooms.

Tiny clusters in the dirt. Big caps pushing out of mossy logs. In Boston I found my first red and white one, the Mario Kart mushroom. That was it, I was hooked.

I’ve got more than 100 species cataloged on my phone now, all of them found on foot. This shirt is that habit, printed on something you can wear to the gym.
